Rainy Days = Jack Johnson Kind of Days

Loved Ones,

You probably haven't heard a peep....but in case the Istanbul weather has happened to make any American headlines: I am fine.

Its been raining here for days but I was surprised yesterday when part way through the afternoon the girls were delivered home by the school bus and that school was also canceled for today. Apparently there were fears the the city would flood which i thought foolish and paranoid.

I was wrong. Watching the news tonight it is obvious that parts---some of them SURPRISINGLY close to me flooded this afternoon. I think a few people even died. But me and mine have been untouched by the weather other then the mild irritation that is experienced by those trapped inside by inclement weather when they would rather be out of doors. My only real fear now, petty as it is, is that the weather may persist and the girls may be kept home from school again tomorrow!

                              Love,
                                            Me

P.S. Its a Jack Johnson kind of day <3

  1. Glad to hear you and yours are well.

My cousin is Jack Johnson's drummer. :) I love bragging about that because I adore my cousin and Jack Johnson is as nice as he appears to be, nicer even. He only tours in the summer so his wife and kids can join. They (my cousin and Jack Johnson) let my boy and I hang out in the wings at a show in Oregon a couple years back, even made sure there were baby-sized earphones for my kid, who was too little to realize 30,000 people were looking at us. He just liked the part when they played music from "Curious George." If you're bored and feel like searching, I did a post about it called (I think) "Rock 'n' Roll."

Take care. Dare I say the rain is letting up? A good summer thunderstorm is great in Istanbul-- very evocative of ancient times to me, but this one has dragged on a bit.

  2. Heard about the flooding on the Asian side of Istanbul. Glad to know that you're okay. As for your concern about the girls' classes being possibly cancelled, maybe you can keep them entertained with an extended game of hide and seek...then "forget" to find 'em :oP

JJ rocks! Good local braddah who made it big on da mainland, but never forgot da aloha spirit :o) Buggah can surf, too! He's like Sunny Garcia and Makana in one :oP
